"When the kids come over, they steal them out of the freezer."

A sign of success!  Your utilization of the appliance is perfect.  It is an amazing thing when it fills the need so perfectly.  It just doesn't fit in with my methods of food preservation.

Now . . . home grown figs, apricots, nectarines and apples . . . bring 'em on!  ;->

"No call for squid?"

Uh, no, thanks!  Love seafood (lived 36 years in South Florida), but Fukushima has us spooked.  Never tried squid or octopus, but love lobster!

No call for squid?

When I was a kid, we lived in Okinawa (Air Force brat) for a couple of years and I developed a taste for dried and shredded cuttlefish. It's quite good if you have never tried it. That's the only way I eat squid or squid-like creatures!  :)

Home grown food is a blessing and nearly always comes with us on our trips.  The difficulty is that stuff almost always ripens all at once.  The vacuum packer, food dehydrator, frozen pies, and jams are our solutions.  On our last trip, we finished the last of the died figs, vacuum packed last year.

Gotta get the white corn planted this week before the next LD trip.
