2017 MB April 24, 2017, 09:10:24 am We picked up our new MB on Friday after being driven to the AZ border. We are on our way back to home in Texas. This is our second MB (2005). We have found the new one, named Cat's Meow, handles much better and is much quieter when going up grades. The factory did an excellent job in getting her ready. Steve did the final check on CM and made several adjustments. Todd did our walk through and said if Steve found a screw in wrong, he would make sure it was fixed. This was a far cry from last Class A that had loose screws in numerous locations. We are very excited about being back in the LD and looking forward to many years of rving. 16 Likes

Re: 2017 MB Reply #3 – April 25, 2017, 09:32:20 pm Congrats ‼️👍🏻 I picked up our green/white Lazy Daze March 12th and finally got the chance to meet the staff at LD which I spoke with many times over the year. Todd is a really nice guy. After we took over after the Arizona trip the trip back to Florida was uneventful. I can gladly say the time waiting was will worth it. I did need to call Todd regarding the inverter which we noted was cycling on/off and I remembered Todd saying it will run( fan) continuously. He said they were aware, others had mentioned this, and are working this out with the company. I wish you all safe travels and we can be very happy we are part of a special group. See you down the road 😎 4 Likes
Re: 2017 MB Reply #4 – April 26, 2017, 12:28:25 am Molly, Ross and Beverly,Now this is exciting news. The Mothership must have hired a new stork 'cause the LD's are flying out of the factory. What is undoubtedly no surprise to all of us at LDO is that your travels homeward were uneventful. Exactly why my DW and I ordered ours and not SOB. It's should be noted here, as well, that two more LD's have once again, left the State. Barely weaned and already leaving the roost.Enjoy your new homes. Happy travels.Kent

Did I not here correctly and if LD did, what was the wattage?

See you down the road 😎 Our 2015 converter also cycles on and off at times but on no predictable scenario. Concerning at first but now just part of the background noise you get used to. Converter noise at night is like white noise for us.
Re: 2017 MB Reply #9 – April 28, 2017, 10:33:11 am Like others, our converter fan turns on at random times. I haven't observed a pattern. I read in the manual that this is normal for the converter. As for an inverter, I found a relatively inexpensive 600W pure sine wave inverter on Amazon and made a 10G wire extension cord with a fuse and a 12V plug for it. We plug it into the cigarette lighter plug in the Lazy Daze dash when we are dry camping. That socket has a higher amperage rating than the coach 12V sockets. We use this inverter for low current 120V needs like chargers, coffee grinder, etc. It is easy, simple, and quiet.Harold

We plug it into the cigarette lighter plug FYI a 600-watt inverter can consume up to 50+amps. The cigarette lighter plug can only supply 20-amps, maximum.I'm surprise the inverter has not blown a fuse yet. It will blow when a higher wattage appliance is plugged in.It would be much better to wire the inverter to the Power Center or directly to the coach battery. When using a cigarette lighter for power, a 200-watt inverter is a better match.Larry 1 Likes
Re: 2017 MB Reply #11 – April 28, 2017, 12:16:18 pm "I'm surprise the inverter has not blown a fuse yet."To be fair, he did say that he was using it "for low current 120V needs like chargers, coffee grinder, etc." As long as he sticks to that, no problem. But yes, if you tried to draw 600 W of AC out of that thing while plugged into a 12 V accessory socket, it would either blow a fuse or simply drag the battery voltage down so low that the inverter would shut itself off.
Re: 2017 MB Reply #12 – April 29, 2017, 02:42:11 pm Congratulations on getting your new LD! We are really excited for you. Todd told us ours will likely be ready the last week in May or the first week in June. Since we are total newbies to RVing, we plan to stay in a park close to the mothership for a few days to make sure I actually understand what I'm doing and have the possibility of being there if anything needs to be tweaked. Then we're heading back to Florida before our summer travels to the Twin Cities, Detroit, Cape Cod and the Carolinas. Wow, this is going to be an adventure. 6 Likes

I would have liked staying in a campground close to the mothership for a few days, but that would have involved paying California sales tax. So I'm taking the ICC driver out-of-state and will pay New Jersey sales tax. Are you paying California sales tax instead of Florida taxes? Monica
Re: 2017 MB Reply #14 – May 10, 2017, 06:38:48 pm " Then we're heading back to Florida ..."We lived in FL when we bought our '08. In FL, you can get your tags before you even head to CA to pick up your rig. You just need the bill-of-sale and some other paperwork LD can provide to you once you have paid for your rig.We took official delivery in Las Vegas, put on our FL tags, turned around and toured all through CA.I know, I know, you're not really supposed to do that but we did. Why drive all the way from FL to CA and not tour that beautiful state? We stayed at a campground in the Lake Mead NRA for a few days to check stuff out. Shopped at the CW in Henderson. No problems so we headed to Sequoia NP then to the coast.Enjoy your new LD.Ed
Re: 2017 MB Reply #15 – May 10, 2017, 09:11:50 pm Yes, we are paying the California tax and that will cover the sales tax from Florida. Marie wants to come home before we head north for the summer/fall to wrap some things up here and get our toad. We'll stop in Phoenix to see her brother, then up to Sedona for a few days and Albuquerque to see another friend. We'll take our time getting back and head back out around the 3rd week of July. We'll be back out West in 2018 and will take some time in California then. 1 Likes

Re: 2017 MB Reply #17 – May 11, 2017, 12:56:28 pm Hi JimThis is my thought process: the sales tax in Montclair, CA is 8%. The sales tax here in Highlands County, FL is 7%. Since Florida is willing to credit CA tax, we're paying an extra 1%. When we pay for someone to drive it out of CA and perhaps not breaking the engine in the way we would want it broken in, the difference is even less and doesn't offset our desire to be near the mothership for four or five days making sure everything works properly and we know a little more about what we're doing (as this is our first RV) than we do now. If there are questions or if something is not quite right, we are close and can have it dealt with by the masters. Then we'll hit the road. 4 Likes
Re: 2017 MB Reply #18 – May 11, 2017, 01:04:47 pm That makes sense David. We are domiciled out of Escambia County. The state sales tax is 6%. Apparently, Highlands adds another 1%. If they handle it the way Escambia does that extra percentage applies to only the first $5,000 of the purchase. That said, what your doing still makes sense for peace of mind.http://floridarevenue.com/Forms_library/current/gt800030.pdfJim

Re: 2017 MB Reply #20 – May 11, 2017, 02:23:22 pm Thanks Jim. good info on the taxes and for us a few extra $ to break ourselves in seems like a decent investment. I'm still freaking out, wondering what I'm getting myself into. I just have to remind myself from time to time to breathe and realize that we've made a great decision based on all the research I did on RVs. Now I just have to be open to learning as much as I can and relaxing when the inevitable glitches welcome me along the way. David And HiLola...I thought long and hard about giving Jerry Brown any of my hard-earned cash; but then thought, if California goes down the tubes, where will the mothership move to? 3 Likes

Re: 2017 MB Reply #23 – May 12, 2017, 04:49:05 pm Congratulations to the members picking up new LDs. What an exciting time! When we picked ours up from the mother ship in 2015, neither of us had any RV experience. On the suggestion of another LD ower, we arranged for 2 days of driving lessons from Steve, an instructor from the RV driving school. He met us some miles north of LA and spent the 2 days with us. It was a great experience and we both developed a confidence which it would have taken a long while to do on our own. We both feel it was a great investment in enjoying our new LD. The RV driving school has instructors in multpile states. You go to their website and put in the location where you would like to take lessons and they let you know where the nearest instructor is located. Hope this helps.Good luck and happy trails.Jean The Silver Fox 1 Likes
