The exhaust pipe on our 2010 MB was low enough that I was concerned about potential damage.  I took it to a local muffler shop where they put the LD on a lift, cut the exhaust pipe, and then raised the pipe by about 3 inches.  The cost (in 2012) for the work was about $50.  I feel a lot more comfortable with the raised height.  I have seen other newer LDs with low exhaust pipes.
