Re: Happy Father's Day! Reply #1 – June 18, 2017, 08:58:59 am Thanks Greg,Happy Father's Day back at you. A few other dads and I are taking our little dirtbikes out on the Forest Service roads to the top of a local mountain while it is still the cooler part of the day. We've got to do it before we get too old for this kind of foolishness!I hope the rest of you dads get to do something you enjoy!Harold 2 Likes
Re: Happy Father's Day! Reply #2 – June 18, 2017, 03:55:21 pm Early morning Father"s Day ride. One photo shows the top of the mountain where we were headed (where the pine trees are on the ridge) and the second shows the view looking down toward the ocean. All of the dirt roads are part of the one FS road up the mountain.Only one hard dismount (me). When my friend looked back and saw the cloud of dust and me on the ground, he quickly turned around and headed back. Not to help, mind you. He wanted to take pictures to send to our riding buddies to share my misfortune and let them enjoy it as well. I was up by the time he got to me. What are friends for?I hope you all have a great Father's Day.Harold

I've seen my fair share of them on the Uni and my Dads old Enduro. Could almost call it an Intellegent Pastry or a Smarts Donut...😁 (Sorry)...I know I'll never make it on Leno.Hope your ok. Re: Happy Father's Day! Reply #5 – June 18, 2017, 07:34:33 pm Kent, Do you ride a unicycle? That's amazing! It looks like no gyroscope, all balance. True?HD
Re: Happy Father's Day! Reply #6 – June 18, 2017, 08:48:49 pm Harold,Unicycles are curious creatures. While balance plays an important role in riding, the biggest secret is momentum.Getting yourself above the wheel is the first object. After that it's much like riding a bike. Sure, you use your arms and torso to maintain direction, but the wheel does a lot of the work. Keep it rolling (hard when your legs get tired) and it's more intuitive than you might think. It was 40 years since I'd ridden a Uni, but when I got my Muni (mountain Uni) I was up and riding the day I got it. The second day I was all over the neighborhood. It's a great workout. Everyone should have one.Check this guy out...he's riding my Oregon Muni. Far better than me, but oh well at least I can ride it. https://youtu.be/tQks73AxwRYKent

I quit riding dirt bikes a long time ago due to too many backflips. OK in a pool, not so much on a hard dirt hill! 1 Likes
