The soldering of blade connections is not recommend due to cracking of the solder joint, when exposed to a source of long term vibration, such as the compressor.
You will almost never find solder connections in off-road construction equipment or off-road vehicles, everything uses a crimped fitting.
It is usually is best to replicate the manufacturer's method of attaching blade connections, they know more than we do.

Good news! DH got new wiring (free  :D from a friendly RV dealer) and reconnected the compressor.  Praise the Lord...it works!  We let it run about 30 minutes, but want to check it out more thoroughly out camping.  So now it's time to make some camping plans...yippee!

Ain't it wonderful when something like this turns out so nicely!   Well done.
