Caravan Club Banner Photo
The 1st truck in the banner photo is a 1960? GMC. Can anyone date this photo any closer than "early 60s?"

Since that was 55 years ago or so, I suspect most of those folks are no longer with us.  I wonder if there is RVing in heaven?  I'll ask the pastor today . . .

Cool photo, though!

Yes first truck is a 1960. The next one look to be 1962. And the Dodge motorhome looks 1962 also.

One would thing that over the years of this forum someone would have run across one of those early 60s LDs - or even an old camper, to post info or photos about. There must be a few hanging around SoCal.

Maybe some of our Google-sleuth members can dig up some old photos.

Chris,

Using an iPhone for LDO, I miss out on the Banner Photos.

Not knowing what you are looking for, exactly, I did find some shots of what "looks like" early LD's, and  some that are "for sure" LD's, some that look a little "rough around the edges" and one that looks "pretty nice" for an older LD.

Dating these images will be up to some other educated soul. I've dug 'em up. Do with them as you please.

The photo of "Gertie" is of Andy Baird, our moderator emeritus.

Take a look at the banner photo on your computer, Kent. You will see some of the early 60s LD motorhomes and campers.

Chris,

Andy was my "rough around the edges" LD 😁 (no offence Andy). I'll leave it at that.

I'll log in tonight on the LT and check out the banner. I wonder if Lazy Daze has made it into the Library Of Congress.

At the very least they should have a place in the Smithsonian. Somewhere between the invention of the wheel and rocket science. Right next to Dales Motorhome.

Not one of the truck campers in the picture that this thread was about, but I dug up a scanned image from a 1966 Trailer Life article for a Lazy Daze Huntsman Housecar.

I knew Gertie had a lot of solar but never saw the roof from above, wow, that is the maximum amount of possible panels.
We only saw Gertie once, in 2006 at Grand Caravan, where Andy found and bought Skylark from our friend, Mike S.

Grand pa had one of those GMC pick ups and a slide in camper from Fort Collins CO.  and  a 1953? Stake truck with duals for the farm.

Andy may chime in here, but I recall his saying that after installation of the solar array, the roof began to sag.

That's a similar or the same interior as the old LD, on display at the Mothership.
Surprised no one has its posted interior photos, taken while visiting LD's palatial world headquarters.

I know on our most recent visit, we were "discouraged" from taking any photos.  :-X

The Dodge Class C would have to be a '66 or newer, correct?

But what Class C motorhomes existed prior to 1966?
