Basement Door Latches March 21, 2017, 02:58:50 pm I might have mentioned some months ago that several of our basement door latches were sprung and needed replacement. I finally got around to replacing a couple of the latches with a latch from JR Products (Part #10245). They look to be an exact match of the OEM latch and they are widely available. I bought locally for $6.99 (less 10% veteran discount) for a pair of latches.I used a hairdryer for about 10 seconds on the unscrewed latch and the latch easily pulled off from the rubber backing/seal. In fact, I was able to re-use that same sticky backing which offers some water protection. I must say that I like the sound of a working latch with a strong return spring rather than a whimpy loose latch.

Re: Basement Door Latches Reply #3 – March 22, 2017, 11:02:20 am I need to replace mine. They still work but a couple have kinda weak springs. But what I don't like is they were painted. And the paint has chips that doesn't look very nice.
