It's cool, but a real geek wants a lot of different devices with cables going everywhere. I like it when people ask if I'm driving a cop car or the space shuttle.

Not sure if you guys are speaking (typing) tongue-in-cheek, but some of this tech stuff does have real, applicable value, IMHO.  Particularly the dash cams.  I work with a major competitor of Garmin. They have cammed our entire fleet with forward-facing/rear-facing/side-encroachment views. The difference before and after is dramatic in terms of the kind and number of claims against us before and after.   Not thousands of dollars, but hundreds of thousands of dollars in claims that can now be shown as false, or as the claimant's complete or predominate fault.  All thanks to the captured cam video. Of course, that is a two-way street.  In some cases, it becomes a be-careful-what-you-wish-for situation.  On balance, I think I would prefer to have dash video than to not have it, especially if I own it and control who can and can not view it.   It is becoming a standard feature. In a few short years, insurance carriers will either require it, or give such equipped vehicles very appealing discounts.

I am thinking of replacing the Garmin in the RV for with the one that Garmin markets to RVers.  Hopefully they will have the integrated dash cam on that model.   
The gear I have plugged into the dash includes the Garmin, iPhone, tire pressure monitoring system, and because there is a extra port I generally recharge my kindle while driving. If I ever make a trip out west, I may add my old XM receiver to the mix (currently not subscribed because I don't drive that much).
The next stereo will have Apple Play and hopefully a port for a backup camera monitor so I can reduce the needed wires.  There will always be a GPS hanging out there though.  Even though I use the phone for directions (Waze app) I keep the GPS running as well. I have been places where Waze was not up to date (just after the hurricane on the east coast in NC) as well as it dropping with loss of cell coverage in the Shenandoah foothills.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a dash cam as the next accessory or even standardized on new cars. Manufacturers have just about run out of devices to outgizmo the competition.
