MB Closet Latch
I designed and built a Closet Latch before our last trip in our 98~MB because the doors were always opening up and swinging.  Also we have shoe holders mounted to the inside of the doors which add to the weight and using a rubber band on the handles failed many times plus finding a better band like a woman's hair band was just not cutting it!  I had seen other ideas posted some time back here on LDO but I thought I would get by with my "Rubber Band Solution".  I remember some latches on old farm gates and barn windows &doors so I thought I would apply a similar solution.
Basically the application is simple you just need to get the Lever/Latch out far enough to hold the door.  I also used a rubber washer to create friction between spacers so the Latch will stay up and I glued a rubber washer cut to size against the inside of the Latch to make contact with the doors.  With this application you can add just the right amount of spacers and washers to get a good fit, and after 3 weeks and 3K miles I found that I did not have to adjust or tighten the locknut on the bolt.  For the right Latch I was looking a few weeks but never saw quite what I wanted so I chose a hasp end which I cut and ground to the right size. I chose to paint with black paint since I had it in stock, maybe brown might have been a better fit for the color scheme.  It is simple and it works.
