Unprotected Wood in a '09 LD
While crawling and creeping under our LD, I found a 18" - 24" piece of untreated 1.5" X 1.5" (estimate) behind the Driver's side rear wheel and in front of the rear wheel.  The untreated area is the underside of the piece of wood and it's the only piece of unprotected wood that I've found.  It looks to be in good condition, which was good news.  My guess it was never sprayed during the original construction.  There's not a similar condition on the passenger's side.   So my suggestion as you crawl underneath yea ole' LD is to check that area out.  Within a day or so, we plan to clean that area and after taping and protecting surrounding territory, spray it with 3M 03584 Professional Grade Rubberized Undercoating.

And so it goes.

PS ... made a correction on the location of the untreated wood since I got confused about the location.

I used that 3M 03584 Professional Grade Rubberized Undercoating to protect the somewhat exposed strip of wood as mentioned above.  In addition, I used it on a piece of treated wood that supports one of the basement storage compartments.  It seems to be good stuff and certainly easy to use.  Next week, I'm going to closely inspect the wooden structure behind the rear bumper and perhaps use the undercoating to add an extra layer of water protection.  We're very satisfied with the results.
