Safety cable hooks missing on new LD.
We discovered that our new (2016) LD does not have the hooks for the safety cables for the tow bar. Are they no longer needed?

All state laws require the use of safety cables.
I have not seen Factory hooks on an LD's rear bumper, only holes where a cable or chain could be run through..
Added to our LD are two large,  shoulder eye bolts, installed under the bumper, for hooking the safety cables on.

On either side of the hitch you will see are a hole with a piece of 1/2" steel rod welded acrossed. This is for securing the safety cables. I don't have the owmers manual in front of me but if you look in the section about towing I think you will see this discussed.

I don't know of any Lazy Dazes that came from the factory with eyebolts for safety cables. They should, but they don't. If you don't want to add eyebolts as Larry has done, you can use a couple lengths of chain and loop them through the holes in the underside of the bumper. Just make sure the chains and quick-links are rated for the dynamic loads you'll be towing.
