Towing and transmission fluid temperature (TFT)
Interesting discussion on towing taking place.
Everyone says they monitor the  TFT.
Monitor it for what temperature and for how long at that temp.?

Here is a post I made in 2008 to the group. It's a summary of research and discussion on the Techsnoz board.

"Thanks Terry & everyone else.
I've Googled this question time & again with mixed results. Based on
the info. here and other bits & pieces I've picked up, the consensus
seems to be a sustained temp. reading of 225* is OK. One source
indicated 250* for 30 minutes was OK. After 30 minutes transmission
damage is likely. "

still valid do you suppose?

On our most recent trip we drove to the Grand Mesa, then over Monarch Pass (11,000+') and
Kenosha Pass (10,000'). Typical ambient temperature was mid 70's. The highest temp I saw was 221*.
