Replacement Awning? October 24, 2016, 03:44:33 pm G'day everyone.After 20 years the A and E awning finally met the wind storm it couldn't handle before I got out there to roll it in.I have a 96 23.5 FL. Is there a direct replacement out there that would make my life easier?I think I'm going with the Fiamma F45S, it looks the closest to what is on there now. I believe the 3.5m length to be the one that will fit. am I missing something, will I be able to use the existing mount location for the arm brackets, etc.Any other suggestions to get instead of this one?Thanks.Jota

They would know the exact model you had, and should be able to help you order the correct one to fit your existing holes. Unlikely but possible, they might have one in stock, depending how close you are to Montclair. How damaged is the awning? By now you could probably use a replacement fabric piece, if the arms, rollers and housing are ok. I have a '99 TK in blue and although I wash and rinse the awning fabric every few years it is starting to look a bit faded. Ronb

Both awning arms broke, the aluminum snapped off on one at the pivot hinge, the other one snapped off at the rail where it attaches to the awning. No saving it now. My fabric was doing OK, had a few pinholes in it and the leading edge was starting to fail but still usable. I'm petty happy to have gotten 20 years out of the original awning.I will call them and see what they can help me with. I am in Oregon so will likely just order one from the internet and have it shipped here. The price I found is around $1000, that is something I have to consider with the age of my rig. I do plan on having it for a few more years before I can upgrade to something newer, so it's probably worth the money for the benefits of having the awning. I use it a lot.Jota

I was correct in my research and the Fiamma F45S 3.5 will be the replacement.He said I would need to do some paint work behind the awning as it is different. Otherwise should fit fine and I might even be able to use the existing brackets for the arms, he wasn't sure.They did not have a grey one in stock, price was $900 plus shipping to Oregon at $150.I went directly to Fiamma USA and ordered it from them. Awning was $927 and shipping was $170.I'll report back when it arrives and I can get it installed.

I ordered a new awning from Fiamma several years ago and discovered damage AFTER I opened the box, and even though I could document the damage by photos, the freight company would only pay ½ the value of the new awning (which was dented and not usable) because I had not refused delivery. I wound up paying 1 ½ times for the new awning and I was quite upset about that, and even after several discussions with Fiamma, they would not cover the difference. I still have very bad feelings toward Fiamma.Chris

Reply #9 – October 26, 2016, 10:20:17 am Just a thought: an opened awning is a heavy dynamic load on the walls, and Lazy Daze builds in support at specific places to handle that load. Any awning other than the standard FIamma would be likely to require support at different places, and providing it could require opening up interior walls to install blocking--a major project. 1 Likes

Will the mounting points be the same? I was lead to believe they were.

I'm more interested in the shock absorbing struts than the electric deploy but I think they come together. My bet is in can be done. I would certainly use it more with a partial deploy option and gust tolerance.
