Wheel Diameter
Does anyone know the diameter of the wheels on a later model LD?  I need to order tire covers and the rig is parked in storage.  Recommendations are appreciated as well!

They're all 16" rims, Greg, but tire covers are sold by the size of the tire, not the wheel.  For "off and on" ease, I suggest getting tire covers one size larger than the measurements indicated. I've been using the same "upsized" Adco tire covers (white), since the LD was a baby. I also have never found a need to use the bungee that came with them; haven't lost a cover in almost 18 years. The covers are ratty looking, dirty, occasionally occupied by spiders, weeds, and bits and pieces of whatever, but the vinyl is not cracked and they still work as designed.

Respectfully, my experience differs from Joan's - I bought one size larger, and they are too baggy, but I use them. I also do not use the bungees on the back - the fenders keep the wind from mischief, but on the front I use REALLY long (60") bungees that encircle the tire horizontally. That way I don't have to fish behind the tire, just hook them in front.

With respect to those who use wheel/tire covers, since RV tires time out before before they age out, do these covers do much for the RV tires in regards to reducing age and cracking of the rubber?

Is weather/age protection the primary use for the covers? Does their use as protection become more useful in certain climates?

Just wondering.

Tire Rack shows your tire LD’s tires are 29’ in diameter.

Thanks for that tip, Steve. I'm in a windy storage facility and also gave up on short bungees. Been using unfolded boxes held in place by large rocks.

Thanks Joan,

Interesting data. I’ve seen some rigs using covers on their tires around the campgrounds.

After reading the article, it makes sense to take advantage of tire covers at home due to the long term storage.

Food for thought.
