Re: Homer Simpson buys a motorhome Reply #4 – October 15, 2016, 12:49:21 pm While the subject of RV salespeople, the big Pomona RV show is going this weekend, a great place to meet a small army of 'Bobs.'. It's a wonderful place to learn all the different sales RV ploys....'What do we need to do so you can take this beauty home today?" Don't trip on the slime.FYI, the Pomona RV show was the only show that LD participated in, ending the practice several years ago.If you were lucky, Steve would be there, looking like he was in detention, not happy guy.Ah, those were the days.Larry
Re: Homer Simpson buys a motorhome Reply #5 – October 15, 2016, 01:17:00 pm "Don't trip on the slime."---- For me, one of the compelling reasons to buy a Lazy Daze was the avoid being subjected to clueless drivel and "pitchman" snake oil from a salesperson. Instead, I dealt with "I live in a BS-free zone" Ed! WYSIWYG! (We got along fine, although he did put on his grumpy pout face when I told him that I really did want the Bilsteins. I know there are honest, knowledgeable salespeople in the business whoa re well-informed about their product; a friend reported that he met and dealt with one! Regrettably, this type seems to be greatly underrepresented. Joan
Re: Homer Simpson buys a motorhome Reply #6 – October 15, 2016, 01:34:23 pm I haven't shopped in person for a motorhome since the late 80's, but yes, ran into this occasionally. They never liked my answer! Glad I discovered Lazy Daze at about that time. Re: Homer Simpson buys a motorhome Reply #7 – October 15, 2016, 01:36:45 pm Quote from: JCT - October 15, 2016, 01:17:00 pm"..Ed...We got along fine, although he did put on his grumpy pout face when I told him that I really did want the Bilsteins..."When I was putting together my "additions" list, I asked Todd about the necessity of the Bilsteins on the '15 e-450 chassis. His advice, "Drive the rig as is for a while and then decide". The point being that the factory shocks came with the chassis and it would be an additional cost to me to have the Bilsteins. Basically it was the "save your money" pitch. Now there's a twist. Right?Todd would most likely have been fine with me driving the new coach away as is with the original factory equipment. Pretty rare I'm sure. Many sales people love to up sell. That's the heart of the business in most service industries. It increases their profit margin exponentially. Oh! Don't forget about that ever important extended warranty. Hmmm...Todd must have forgotten to mention that. Perhaps I still have time to include that option. 😱Kent
