Amazing Contributors to the LDO Forum
As the old saying goes, "I know a thing or two because I've seen a thing or two."  Nevertheless, I'm stunned and amazed that so many folks on this LDO Forum have contributed so much for so many years.  While there are a good many other Senior & Major Contributors on this LDO Forum, how about taking a moment to scan the following information on just four (4)  of the earliest members of this forum.

1.  Michelle C. joined on May 10, 2000.
2.  Chris Horst joined on May 16, 2000.
3.  Larry Wade joined on January 22, 2001.
4.  Andy Baird joined on March 30, 2001.

So that means for 16 years or so, many times a week and often many times a day these Senior Contributors have helped countless people with all things related to Lazy Daze MHs.  16 YEARS!!!  That level of assistance, patience, and guidance exceeds anything in my experience.  I'm humbled by the sheer volume of their work.

Kudos to all of you and thanks for your many years of service to others!

May I add Steve B. to the list? He was one of the original moderators of the old "lovemylazydaze" Yahoo group, the precursor of "lifewithalazydaze," and has been a valuable contributor for 16 years as well!

Well said Ed,

It's like my dear ol' grandma always said, " Great minds think alike". Keeping the hand on the rudder at all times keeps the Ol' LDO afloat.

Now let's all get back to "our posts".

Seriously, thanks you guys. After being on board for nearly two years, I have witnessed the ease at which you manage to keep this ship from being scuttled.

Here's to 16 more years...at least.

Ed, thanks so much for posting this. Very kind of you. I think all of us "old timers" would agree that riding along these Lazy Daze trails has been one very happy, rewarding experience. This group is like a second family to me.

The tireless support from these four has added a dimension of enjoyment to my LD ownership experience that transcends camping.

Thank you for adding Steve to this post.  IMO, it's important to acknowledge these folks for the benefit of all of us.  Expressing a heart-felt thank you has not gone out of style in this Forum.

It just goes to show (well, speaking for Steve (C not B) and myself) - once a LDer always a LDer  ;)

I also now feel old ;-)

Two more long-term members deserve attention.
The first is Steve Bourgholtzer, the form's webmaster before Andy, LD owner since 1994(?) and a reservoir of knowledge pertaining to the older LDs and electronics of all sorts.
Next is Joan Taylor, a natural teacher and supplier of vest quantities of information and travel wisdom.

Both have been extremely active forum members, through the years, and have taught me a lot.

All those mentioned previously, and adding Steve B. and Joan, have brought an enormous amount of knowledge to our group. I dread to think how many disasters have been avoided, and fun times provided, by the information and knowledge imparted by the collective wisdom within this jolly bunch.

I'm far from an expert (unless you want to talk about cooking!), but we bought our first Lazy Daze in 1991. Interesting to know who is still around that may have been an owner in those days - long before there was a Lazy Daze chat list.

Virtual hugs,

Judie

I know that Chris has been a special ambassador to the forum, I know that Andy and Larry explain all manner of things, but I had never heard of Michelle C until this version of the forum. Her profile tells little about her. Perhaps she will introduce herself.

Second, I can think of a few other folks who have preformed yeoman's duty for a long time who Traxless did not mention. I don't know Traxless either.

Well, short version... (ok, it got longer)

My "handle" on the Yahoo Group was stcook.  I joined LWALDRV in May 2000 and we bought our 1999 30IB in June 2000.  We used to have a website with photos of some of our upgrades, including one of the first ProFill installs (ProFill then used our photos for their literature).

We sold our LD in 2004 when we bought our Foretravel, but I've remained a group member.

In 2010 the Foretravel Owner's Yahoo Group was looking for options to move off Yahoo.  Steve (C - my husband) had done a few websites and forum sites as a hobby.  We offered and ultimately helped move the Foretravel Yahoo Group to a standard forum format, Foretravel Owner's Forum, including preserving and threading all the old posts into a searchable archive.  It also resulted in Steve becoming one of the developers (all volunteer) first for SMF (Simple Machines Forum) and now Elkarte, the open-source software that the forum runs on.

In late 2010/2011 he was approached by Brett Wolfe of the Caterpillar RV Club (now Diesel RV Club) to do the same.  Diesel RV Club, an FMCA Chapter  You may recognize Brett's name from his FMCA technical articles.

In 2016 when I saw discussions of switching from Yahoo Groups on the LWALDRV group, we approached Chris Horst to offer to help this group as a way to give back to this great group and long story short we/you now have LDO.

We still have our Foretravel but our LD was our first RV and if we ever downsize it's what we would go back to.

I can't begin to quantify how much I've learned on this forum in the past 13 years, nor express my gratitude for the many wonderful people I've met, quite a few of whom have become real friends!

The knowledge, experience, skills, and willingness to share are remarkable, and the atmosphere of civility and courtesy in postings is refreshing; in the days before the web, the enormous volume of "collective wisdom" and individual expertise and "people contacts" now available through this medium would have simply been inaccessible. It amazes me every day how much information is out there (granted, some of it ranging from misguided to loopy to dangerous, but, hopefully, one learns to evaluate source quality and validate the accuracy of information!) , and the numbers of people who are eager to learn and/or share their experience to help others avoid some of the mistakes they probably made along the way!

Many of us went through a long time of a trial and error, seat of the pants, screw up/oops!, hard-won, figure it out on our own (or with the help and advice of very few others) learning curve; now, with almost immediate access to information just about anything one can think of (and a lot of things that one probably would rather not know about, but it is what it is!), so much of what we had to do to learn back in the day is now unnecessary "wheel re-invention"!

We have a terrific group of experts here, many with multiple skill sets; if they don't know an answer or are unable to offer a solution, they can probably at least provide some guidance to point the questioner to a reliable source of information. We are indeed fortunate to have this forum; it offers unique learning opportunities and access to a real community of like-minded people. Thanks again to our moderators for their care and diligence, and to our contributors; we are all "teachers and students".  ;)

Well, don't think I deserve to be mentioned with all the great folks above but I appreciate it, Michelle! You and Steve (C.) are awesome!
