Since the inverter is powered by the house batteries, it's puzzling that it could still be in operation after disconnecting those batteries. Is it possible that your solar charging system is still supplying 12V  power?

In any case, the factory inverter installations I've seen have had an on/off switch. Normally it's buried in an upper cabinet, near where the TV is mounted and near the duplex outlet that is the only one powered by that inverter. Find the switch, turn it off, and the noise should stop.

Here is an excerpt from my '15 manual regarding the charging current from the solar array.

I have a 2001 30 ft. LD, which has a Powerstar 40 watt inverter, situated behind the drawers under the fridge. That inverter is putting out a high pitched whining sound and even disconnecting the house batteries & shore power does not stop the irritating sound. Anyone have any ideas or experience with this issue?
Don, I don't have an answer, but if you Google "high pitched whining sound in RV inverter", you may find some interesting threads.

Chris/Don: if you are truly disconnected from power (no solar, gen, shore cord, engine alternator and the battery is disconnected) then you have gremlins behind your reefer.  In older inverters and converters sometimes the transformer or inductor laminations sing or whine.  Newer ones should switch at a non audible frequency so should be quiet except for a fan but not needed on a low power one.  Jack

Well the owner never responded to my offer and it's no longer listed so I assume someone took it off his hands. I found one of those well cared for beauties you guys said to look for and set up an appointment to look at it, halfway into the 4 hour drive there the owner called to say he just sold it! My husband is furious at me, dragging him around for an old expensive motorhome. Its not looking hopeful.

Our ad for our 99 RB which was on RV Trader.com for about 5 days had over 500 hits. This gives you some idea of the interest in and demand for Lazy Daze motorhomes. And it gives buyers little time to inspect and ponder. We reversed course after realizing "bells and whistles" came with the potential for mega-headaches (slides, power awnings and automatic levelers). My advice is to buy new if you can afford it. In the smaller Class C arena there  is very little out there that compares favorably with LD. . Do you have a close friend or relative you could consider co- ownership with? I estimate that the cost of co-ownership is about 60% of the cost of sole ownership for a 50/50 arrangement. I have information on how to set up co-ownership which I would be happy to share with anyone interested. Obviously it isn't going to appeal to fulltimers but it is a good option given the cost of a new rig is about $110K and there are almost zero units on the market 10 years or newer.

Thought I would provide a little update, the owner finally responded to our offer by saying if all the broken items were addressed he would have asked $15,000 for the rig! Obviously we would never come to an agreement if he thinks his not well maintained  1992 is worth that much.

He just re listed the motorhome today with a bit different ad, still asking the same $11,800 price but ad says he has generously reduced the price from  $14,500 to account for the following items and then listed some of the things that my inspection caught! The inspection I paid for. I don't think he listed everything, so buyer beware. I'm not mad I just found his logic amusing.

Just for my learning experience. How much did you offer at the end? I too ran into a problem from a seller in Chicago. Seems lots of people are not so honest this days. Thanks Michele
