Floor Plan Eenie Meenie Miney Mo
My wife & I are actively looking/shopping for a nice used Lazy Daze.  We both landed on the 26.5 or 27' as the size for us.
The thing is, one of us is liking the rear kitchen/ dinette floor plan while the other of us is leaning toward the mid-bath floorplan with the two sofa / twin bed in the rear.

I guess we are hoping to benefit from the depth of knowledge you here all have.  We sure would like to get one with a floor plan we'll both like over time, so.....  I am hoping you will please chime in with your thoughts/ experiences.

Eenie Meenie Miney Mo..... which floor plan.... how do we know?

P.S. Probably not the first time you've heard something like this:    .... We saw a nice 2004 unit a short time ago w/ 50 something on the odometer.  It was the first we looked at.  We passed on it and yep, now know we prolly should have bought it.
Since then, not seeing anything that comes close in miles, condition, price.
Would appreciate hearing of any which may be coming for sale.

Welcome, and good luck on your new quest!

A search for a suitable RV begins with knowing yourself.  You don't tell us, but are you planning extended travel, or trips of less than a month at a time? Experienced with other RVs? Are indoors hobbies part of your RV "lifestyle"?

Speaking for us, we have a 25.5 Midbath.
My wife and I have different sleeping habits, so I sleep up top, where she is not comfortable, ands she sleeps in the back, where she can sleep late while I make breakfast.
We travel for months at a time, so we plan for one of us to come down with a cold or flu, and like the option to put the sick one into "quarantine".
We don't like rear kitchen RVs
The windows of the rear lounge are the best feature of our LD.

That's just us.  YMMV.

When I began looking, I became enamored with the mid-bath because of the rear living area that can be completely closed off.  The three-sides of panoramic windows "sealed the deal" for me.  I totally love mine!

Welcome to the forum.
The Rear Kitchen (RK) is rare and has not been in production for a while. You may wait a long time before finding one for sale.
The Mid Bath (MB) is LD's most popular model, the model you are most likely to find.
I find both of them to be similar,  just flipped around, both with the bath in the middle.
Either model provide two separate areas, good if you and your wife have different sleeping hours or need 'alone' time.

Have you seen all the floor plans?
The Rear Bath (RB) is also a nice floor plan that is very open and spacious feeling, not claustrophobic as some find the MB and RK.
Different floor plans for different folks.
Not knowing where you live, there are various regional groups that have camp outs throughout the year. They are the perfect place to see the various floorpans and to talk with their owners.

The OP questions comes up on all the various RV forums and for all types of RVs.  Most folk's advice is to spend as much time in each of the floor plans one is considering and try to image living and traveling with that floor plan.  Think about sleeping arrangements, cooking, family and guests accommodations and such.  At the end of the day, there is not a best or worse floorplan.  They all work for somebody.  In our case, we wanted the MB for the reasons described by Paul and Cheryl (see above).  And good luck in your search.  There are a couple of fine Lazy Daze's for sale on this forum and on several of the RV classified websites.

Another vote for the MidBath. I will admit a fondness for the RearBath.  That big room can be fun.
The rear kitchen has less work area for cooking. Also if there is an occasional 3rd passenger, in our case a grown daughter, they would need to climb over those in the bunks to visit the bath at night.

Paul, thank you for welcoming us.
Yes, we are planning both extended travel, and trips of less than a month at a time.    Having owned one motor home years ago, and a couple of Airstream trailers up until last year, we are somewhat experienced with other RVs.
I like to fish, unless my wife comes along - because she always out fishes me & catches the biggest one.   :)
I also enjoy Pheasant, Sharptail & Ruffled grouse, quail and other bird hunting with our Brittany.

I realize my original  question comes up here & there from time to time and spending time in different floor plans is a darned good way to see what suits us.
But so is asking "the cogniscenti"!
Colds, flu, early vs late risers, completely closed off rear area, less working area in rear kitchen... People climbing over the bunks to visit the bath...Wow.. all good factors to consider.   Thank you all Very Much!

We are actively looking and ready to buy, depending.    Age, condition, # of miles and price all being deciding factors.

Thanks !

We used the last RV we owned differently.  We travelled with friends, often in bad weather months. So a big dining/kitchen are was helpful. Usually 11 people were in camp, and dinners were done inside when a fire was out of the question. In that case, a rear bath would have been a good choice.

It all depends on "how you roll". Tell us more about you, HappyChi?

Edit- you already told us about you- I think while I was writing my last post. So many cool ways to use an LD. Maybe we should plan a hunt/fish GTG!

The hunt for the "perfect for you" LD can be tricky.

When we decided to purchase our LD, I was absolutely certain that the MB with the Rear Lounge was "the" LD for us. New or Previously Loved became the big question. I was convinced that the choice had been made.

That was that. Right? Not quite. We visited the factory...sat in the 27' with its spacious Rear Lounge then looked forward toward the cab. Oh my...I was having a change of heart. My DW wasn't sure that this was a perfect fit for her. I wasn't too pleased either. I thought the deal was sealed.

The other floor model at the factory was the 27' RB. We stepped inside...looked at each other and smiled.

We have been very happy with our choice. Just goes to show...you never know.

As it has been said, there are no bad floor plans. See as many as you can. Then enjoy the your new LD.

We could have written those exact words.  The MB seems to be perfect for separate living/sleeping spaces, but there is just something about it when actually inside the rig with that floorplan that doesn't necessarily suit everyone who thought it would!  It was a huge surprise to us.
When we visited the factory in 2000 to choose the floorplan for our expected purchase of a new Lazy Daze, my husband was sitting in the back of an MB chatting with Ed, but I had to escape from the model.  I went to the TK (which was our floorplan at the time) to wait it out.  I'm not claustrophobic, so was entirely surprised at my discomfort.
We, too, have disparate sleeping schedules - massively so.  It is not easy in our RB, but most of the sleeping time is spent . . . well, sleeping, thus unconscious.  Since it is the waking time that is more important, we quickly changed our preference as well.  A smallish amount of not-quite-so-ideal times during any given night stacked up against the many conscious hours during the day . . . well, easy for us to change our minds.
The RB may not have the rear wraparound windows of the MB (and TK) models, but somehow the many windows in the main cabin of the RB, and the openness of the back area with its huge window, brings in so much light that it seems to erase all of the darker areas.
At this point in my life as an older part-timer, I think I would prefer the larger, bed on the floor, 31-foot model, but the RB is more than suitable for its many advantages over the longer unit.
