Marinco Cover flapping in the breeze.

Can someone tell me what is supposed to snap to what on this cover. Mine has never snapped. Tried Velcro tape , but that did not hold it down. Not sure where I would put a magnet to hold it. Nothing magnetic around there.

My cover does not appear to be broken, no obvious cracks, chips gone out of it. yet it no snap closed. Just flaps in the wind every time I drive away.

I saw where Andy mentioned a magnet... but there is nothing magnetic there?

any help would be great.

And I thought I was the only one with this problem. I currently use Velcro tape to hold it down and that does seem to work well at highway speeds. However, I need to replace it on an infrequent basis because the Velcro glue doesn't seem to last long in an outdoor environment. I'm open to alternative solutions!

You may want to call the factory and see if the cover design is still the same and what they recommend to fix it. (it sounds like they used to have a kit to fix this.)

Check out one of my old posts, #64306. I had cut a small piece from an old margarine cup that I attached to the bottom screw of the service connector. Trial and error to get it the right size, but the cover now *snaps* closed. Since that 1st repair, I needed to replace it only one more time.

I managed to find a metal replacement for our 2006 LD. I just tried to run a search for one and I was not successful. I am entertaining Spring Breakers this week but I'll try to find a link. I believe it was Marineco. Far, far superior to the original plug set up and instead of a "snap" to hold it in place, it does a quarter turn screw to keep it in place. I was ecstatic in finding it as the "flapping in the breeze" was just killing me as we breezed down the highway.

I used a small rare earth magnet (recovered from a worn out Sonicare Toothbrush head), but any small rare earth magnet would do. Hot melt glued to the inside bottom of the cover, it's attracted to the bottom mounting screw holding the receptacle to the wall.

Works like a charm.

thought I would update on how I fixed the problem with my flapping cover.

used a combination of a couple of solutions suggested.

had some heavy duty weed eater string, nylon pretty thick, would guess about 12 gauge wire. cut about a 3 inch piece .

description: lift cover, the very bottom edge of the connector, lower than the screw on the bottom is the last edge before it rejoins the body of the rv. This edge is what the cover is supposed to snap to. the snapping piece on the cover is only about half an inch long. Only used a 3 inch piece of wire to give more area for the hot glue to hold, half an inch is all that is absolutely necessary. Took me some figuring before I realized this was the part that did the job. I hot glued the piece of wire so that it over hung this edge by about a 1/16 of an inch.

Nice positive snap now... should hold up as long as the hot glue holds. extra bonus, the wire I had was bright orange, quick glance, If I see any orange, I know it is not snapped shut.

Total fix time.... figuring it out what they did at the factory was to heat the cover and bend it so the little snapping piece on the bottom of the cover was pressed up harder against the connector, 20 mins, actual fix 3 mins flat, that includes waiting for the glue to melt.

I would like to thank everybody that responded, it was truly appreciated.
