More plumbing - Kitchen Sink - Preventative Care March 06, 2016, 12:02:57 pm Yahoo Message Number: 159206This should be of interest to everyone and especially to those that use the calcium laden water of the southwest. An item on the pre-deployment punch list was to repair the kitchen faucet. It had developed a very slow leak, only noticeable because the water pump would cut on for a fraction of second to rebuild pressure. What I want to impart is that after 8 years of use, the calcium will build up and make disassembly difficult. So today may be a good time to take it apart and use some white vinegar and a toothbrush to clean it up.You can find the simple repair procedure for Price-Pfister, what we have, faucets on Youtube.

Re: More plumbing - Kitchen Sink - Preventative Care Reply #2 – March 07, 2016, 02:58:45 pm Yahoo Message Number: 159230I am unable to turn the big nut on the faucet even using large wrenches. Liquid wrench didn't seem to help. The PF faucet works just fine but I may have to cut it off to replace it in the future. Just waited too long on our 2004 MB.

Many times, destroying something, that is badly corroded, is the only way to remove it.Larry Thinking our 2003 LD's drains need replacing.
Re: More plumbing - Kitchen Sink - Preventative Care Reply #4 – March 08, 2016, 01:39:37 pm Yahoo Message Number: 159247On one occasion I struggled with an extremely tight fitting with my sticks-bricks Delta bath/shower faucet. The old cartoon adage came to mind, "Which way did they go...". Breaking a fitting loose can be a daunting task. Now days whenever I do any preventative maintenance on a faucet, I use a "food grade" grease when reassembling the unit (not too much but but never too little...). This does a couple of important things......It allows the faucet to operate freely and the biggest thing...it makes disassembly, even many months later, a no-brainier by eliminating frozen or corroded threads and parts.Food grade grease can easily be found at any hardware stores plumbing section.Sure beats fighting delicate plumbing (as long as we can think far enough ahead to apply our techniques).Great, now I have another project to do.Happy Travels,Kent
