I can attest to the viability of the PowerMax Boondocker that Larry mentioned.
I put a 60 amp PowerMax Boondocker in my LD mid-bath when I had the coach.  It worked great.  I managed to install mine under the refrigerator, between the end of the battery box and the forward cabinet wall.  Used a piece of ½ inch plywood fastened to the inside of the forward cabinet wall for a mounting base.  I had to first assemble everything outside the cabinet. Then I disassembled it, mounted the plywood in the cabinet, and remounted the converter/charger.  It was a physical challenge but worked out well.  On the same plywood mounting base I had a 60 amp MaxiFuse and the shunt for my Link 10 meter.
With the converter/charger mounted in this location the total length of the DC charge loop was about 5 feet.  I cannot remember the size of the wire I used in the loop, but it was bigger than the wire in the charge loop for the original Parallax.  The only downside to this installation was that I had to extend the "converter/charger 115 volt AC" circuit from the Parallax unit to a duplex outlet mounted under the refrigerator.   The bottom section of the Parallax unit remained empty.
Initially I was a bit concerned about mounting the converter/charger in this location fearing that it might not have adequate air circulation.   However, Randy at Best Converters (where I purchased the BoonDocker), assured me that it would be OK.  I used it a lot for over 3 years without any issues.  The fan in the BoonDocker ran very little and it was quiet.   You had to listen hard to determine whether it was running.
My BoonDocker was a first generation unit. The current BoonDockers are second generation units that have a couple of added features.

With tongue in cheek & remembering Joan's caveat (YMMV), my solution to furnace/fan noises & other nighttime disruptions is just to take my hearing aids out--the 4-Legged Alarm operates independently of external power (& never seems to run down)...of course, I never realized how loud she was 'til I got hearing aids.  ; > )

I am new to this forum and I asked the original question about the Bilstein shocks.  I see the term SOB, but do not know what it means, . Would somebody fill in in? Thanks Dan

Actually, there's so many Internet and RV related acronyms that they should constitute a new language.  I'd sure hate to be the new immigrate trying to learn American English!   My first language is English and my second language is Internet Speak.  LOL

Indeed--on top of that, trying to manage multiple dialects...I consider myself marginally technoliterate with my Mac, but had to learn to be somewhat functional with the PC in my last job.  I don't have a cellphone--the idea of trying to navigate iOS/Android/whatever else is out there makes my head spin.    All in all, it makes my HS Latin class back in the dinosaur days seem like a walk in the park (I can still sing Happy Birthday in Latin, but no way could I conjugate anything).  The upside is that with Alzheimer's running in the family, I need to stimulate brain function by learning challenging new tasks.  : > )

You might find this glossary of RVing terms helpful.

Personally, I never use the acronym "SOB" online. As we all know, this term has a very insulting meaning ("son of a bitch") that has been in common use for centuries, so it's all too likely to be taken as an insult by those who aren't familiar with the specialized RVing "some other brand" usage.

No offense, but that sounds somewhat on the PC side. And the PC side is already significantly overburdened in our society. I can see the abbreviation "SOB" as confusing to neophytes here, as many of the other abbreviations unique to RVing may be. However, in the context in which it's used, it's pretty much non offensive to my more delicate sensibilities.

Just don't call me that!
