I have been so happy with our 97 TK and over 200k miles that I picked up this year from Judy and Lou.  As you can imagine there have been a lot of little repairs with a rig with this many miles and I was prepared to rebuild the engine.  We took a couple of small shake down runs in the summer and then a 2 week one up the coast to Oregon and back down to LA.  I noticed a check engine light on some of the large grades that was due to a misfire.  Well when I got home I found a spark plug boot missing a hold down screw which took care of the misfire.  So I gave myself a week to start changing the plugs and I am glad I did.  I found 2 plugs had previously stripped threads, repaired and were very difficult to remove.  The others had a 0.95 gap and I was supersized how well it ran.  There has been a small ticking so I checked the exhaust header and as soon as the wrench touched the stud it broke.  One week to remove all of the studs using a welder for the 5 broken 1/4 inch below the surface and another 3 above.  Since I never wanted to do this again and had everything apart I ran over to Banks and picked up there header for a grand.  Then another 4 days to install the Banks header keeping the stock muffler.  More than I wanted to pay but now that I have put some miles on Dazy, she is quieter (inside and outside) while pulling up the Cajon pass easily.  I do not recommend these repairs for the faint of heart.  I am fairly handy, only 40 and don't want to do these jobs again while hoping to get another 200k miles from Dazy.  I thought I would share for anyone looking to get a Banks header or is concerned about purchasing a high mileage RV.

Great job! That engine is a beast, I'm sure you will enjoy a good second life out of it. Even with the labor and parts, this is a darn sight cheaper than a new camper!

We had taken our Lazy Daze to Blown Spak Plug in California to have the spark plugs changed and they did a great job.  There is no reason why these well built LD's should last many, many years.  Remember mine is for sale.

Craig, I assume you've purchased Judy Farrow and Lou Stoetzer's Rig?  That rig was originally owned by June and Brad Honholt, a couple who full timed in it for almost all of those 200K miles -- well, about 199,000 miles anyway.

Farrow/Stoetzer/Honholt and a few other Lazy Dazers (and I)  call the SKP Park of the Sierras home base.  That well-loved rig has great karma and a lot of stories to tell.  I wish you many, many more wonderful miles in it.

Yes it is Lorna. I was well taken care of with only a couple of issues and lots of records. I know a couple of people were hesitant on purchasing something with so many miles. The hardest repair has been water damage a bad water pump can cause. I have loved reading their book and Dazy's name will stay.
