Re: External mirror extensions Reply #3 – January 10, 2016, 07:07:11 pm Yahoo Message Number: 158028Velvac makes a lot of different mirror heads and arms. In the case of my Lazy Daze midbath, I had already replaced the small mirror heads installed by the factory back in 2003 with large "deluxe" heads (purchased used on eBay) that have large flat glasses and full-sized parabolic mirrors instead of tiny stick-ons. But last fall, a friend pointed out that the 14.5" mirror arms Lazy Daze had used on my rig were much too short to allow a really good view to the rear. In fact, they are several inches shorter than Velvac recommends for a rig of my Lazy Daze's width. So I ordered a set of 17.5" Velvac arms with their less expensive, smaller heads (because the arms didn't seem to be sold separately), and mounted my large deluxe heads on the longer arms. The result was that I could see vehicles MUCH closer to the rear of my rig--a big improvement in visibility and in safety.Moral: check the length of your mirror arms. If they are 14", you may want to consider replacing them with longer ones, in order to get better visibility to the rear. A pair of 17.5" arms and mirrors cost me about $310.Andy Baird
