The few articles I've seen about using wind power on an RV seem to all say the same thing - use solar instead. Once installed, no muss, no fuss. I saw a similar set up (a bit larger) on a motorhome once and it was quite noisy.

My roof is completely covered with Solar Panels. But that won't help you in a rainy windstorm. Just looking for an alternate source of energy during NV monsoon season.

I think using a generator, installing more battery capacity, reducing consumption, and even plugging in are better alternatives.
I did see an article about motorhome that hinged large solar panels to one side. The panels swung down along the side for travel; swung up to the optimum angle for power production. Simple support struts hold the deployed panels while parked. Here is a similar one:

Bob Your E350 is overloaded, as is.
As mentioned before, wind power doesn't work bwell for RV usage.

Are you really sure you want one of these, Bob? Relevant quotes from the article:

"Other than a nice steady wind off the Gulf down at Padre Island National Seashore, I never found conditions where the wind turbine would keep up with the 200 watt demand of my normal usage pattern"

"The blade tips are barely subsonic at maximum power output, and structural failure will send sharp pieces flying into nearby objects, like my solar panels for instance. Or maybe me."

"Compared to my solar panels, the wind turbine was a lot of work."

"I carried the wind turbine around for a year and a half, using it on maybe a half dozen occasion, and then stored it when I decided that it just wasn't worth the weight and space it took up"

Doesn't sound too practical to me.

I shall defer to the experts on this forum and abandon the idea of the wind generator. As I drove thru a giant wind farm was wondering if it could apply to an RV. Now I see it's not feasible. Thank you for the advice.
