Another Toilet Issue

Since we're on the subject of toilets, Sealand Traveler 510, I figured I'd toss in my latest challenge. A few days ago when I flushed the toilet there was a snapping noise of some sort and the pedal did not go back up by itself. We now have to pull it back up each time.
I took the pedestal shroud off and removed the pedal, nothing obvious to me was wrong. Got out the manual and looked at the troubleshooting page - mentions the "spring cartridge assembly" as the probable culprit.
Anyone have experience with that? It would seem like something I ought to be able to handle.

Thanks for any advice.

Ours failed on our 04 MB a few years ago.  A pretty easy repair except for the tight working conditions.  Just take off the base cover and you can get to most everything.

Yup, it's the spring cartridge assembly. It's a $25-$30 part, and if you have previously disassembled your toilet, replacing it shouldn't be too challenging. While you're at it, you might as well replace the ball valve and seal--another $60-$90, but worth doing as long as you have the toilet disassembled.
