Dometic Air Conitioner/Heat Pump 15000 btu October 22, 2015, 09:07:57 am Yahoo Message Number: 156563Our air conditioner/ heat pump on our 2011 TK quit producing cool or heated air. The fan works at both speeds. I reset the circuit breaker, but did not fix the problem. I do not hear the compressor kick in like it normally does. Any ideas?

It could be the capacitors, there are two of them, one for the compressor and one to assist the first capacitor. That is a fairly easy and cheap fix. I pulled mine out myself and had them checked by an AC guy. If the compressor is frozen then you will probably have to replace the whole thing, which is about 1500 bucks for a new one, plus is will need a new controller, Dometic changed them a few years ago. Hopefully yours is not like mine, I had to replace the unit. Not cheap. Good luck.2010 MB Marc

I found that it had lost the freon where there is a coil of the copper tubing from the compressor to the air exchanger. It is the smaller diameter copper tubing (I think the high pressure side) and the coiled tubes rub on each other with the vibration causing a leak. The only fix is the replacement of the unit as the freon cannot be replaced. Fortunately, mine was under warranty both times this happened (replaced twice with the same problem by a Dometic dealer). The third (current unit) showed that Dometic realized the engineering flaw and corrected it by placing plastic spacers between the coils. We have used this unit for several years with no other problems. If your unit has the same freon leak location I would see if Dometic had a recall on that model. Another problem you need to look for is an electrical wiring bundle crossing over the top of the fan motor. That needs to be secured so it is not pulled into the squirrel cage fan. That happened with my second unit. Made a lot of noise but no damage. I now have extended warranties on all the Dometic products in our RB. Mike
