Just returned from cross country trip

We just returned from our 35 day cross country trip towing our 22' sailboat. Had a GREAT cruise on the intracoastal waterway in Florida and Alabama, and headed out into the Gulf of Mexico for a portion of the cruise also. We put 6,278 miles on our 1997 23.5 TK model, and she performed flawlessly! Took a side trip to St Simons and Jekyll Islands in GA, and a drive down to visit our niece in Sarasota FL before returning home. Only seen one LD during the trip, and that was while heading out of San Diego the first day. We'll be home about 6 weeks before we head up to Portland, and then onto Michigan to visit family. Planning a side trip to Niagara Falls while we're there. Need to see about installing a tow assembly on our Fiat 500 before we leave, any suggestions?

Out of curiosity, did you keep track of the total gasoline cost for those 6,278 miles? I'm thinking somewhere around $1,800.

We used 721.8 gallons of gas for the trip. Fuel cost ranged from $2.35 a gallon to $2.99 a gallon. Overall average was 8.6 MPG, not bad considering we were towing a 22' boat, trailer and gear that comes in a bit over 4,600 Lbs.
