Cape Disappointment SP (Ilwaco, WA) site suggestion?
Yahoo Message Number: 153016
It occurred to me that since Cape Disappointment SP is popular, it would be a good idea to make a reservation, even though I'd not be there on a weekend. At present, there seem to be quite a few "tent" sites (and a few electric/water hookups; nice but not necessary) available for the time I'd be there. Site photos are helpful, of course, but may not tell the whole story! Any suggestions for preferred sites?

TIA.

I will be there for one night in the third week of June and can tell you after that although I realize that is probably too late.  I did look at pictures of the sites.  I believe Each site has a picture on the state system they use for their reservations.  Also, I am thinking the campsitehhotos site includes Cape Disappointment, but I might be wrong.  The place is a little pricy, considering tthat I prefer boondocking, but I went ahead and made a reservation for the one night we are passing through.

Joan, we have never used an electric site there. We prefer the sites closest to the beach, to hear the wind and surf, but if crowded when you go, then avoid sites adjacent to the beach access paths. VERY windy most of the time, but those sites stay smoke free. We love the 'rawness' of the climate and scenery there, but if rainy, the paths through the woods will be messy and slippery.

If you plan to spend much time in WA state and you like to boondock, you would be well to purchase the $30 Discovery card.  There are some nice spots on the peninsula as well as around the state.  Our 27MB had no problem.
