Hi all.  I was just wondering if there are any couples who are living full-time in their Lazy Daze and if so, what model and how has the process been for you?

Thanks Bud

Bud, You'll find quite a few people who have or are full timing with an LD. My wife and I just completed seven years full time with a 26.5 ft MidBath.  It was a wonderful adventure and we are now starting a new chapter by returning to our hometown to spend time with family and friends of many years.  I totally recommend the lifestyle!

We just purchased our 31 iB a couple months ago and expect to spend 6 - 8 months in it every year. However, we did not start with something this small. We began fulltime RV living in 2006 in a 36 foot, 3 slide fifth wheel. We downsized to a 27 foot, 1 slide travel trailer in 2013 and now to the 31 iB (even smaller than the travel trailer). There is a learning curve to living smaller and we are STILL learning, especially with the 31 iB, it's our first motor home.

Hi Bud, Hubby and I went FT in our 1998 30' iB last July, after months of downsizing, and a few test runs. He's an experienced full-timer and did a marvelous job of preparing the rig for us.

I have zero desire to return to our former lifestyle, even with the inevitable patience-testing moments. Change of any kind is stressful, and I think how we deal with the little and big stresses makes all the difference. I've been surprised to find the little stresses test my resiliency more than the big mishaps...

The iB is good because when I really need to cocoon, I go in the bedroom and close the door. This also helps with different bio-clocks...We looked at several other RV models, and none were as appealing as our cozy LD.

The process of downsizing was the most difficult, and if I had to do over again I would do it all differently.

One of the best things we did was to join Escapees RV Club, for so many reasons, not least of which is stumbling into the perfect landing/launching place at Jojoba Hills in California. Suits our needs perfectly. Also Passport America for times when we were in beautiful area and no obviously good boon-docking spot to find before dark (a favorite memory is a PA park 40 minutes north of St. George UT, and just minutes from north, less busy, entrance to Zion NP).

I also think that having the great outdoors as another room to go to makes a big difference.
This lifestyle isn't for everyone, obviously. It sure is working for us. The thing is, if it doesn't work out, you can always choose to do something else.

Good luck with your process and decisions!

We are not full-timers owing to several reasons, primarily health issues; however, we are out in our 30 IB AE six to eight months of the year.  We both love it.  As the below response sums it up, it is just pure joy to get out into our national and state parks and not have to worry about the grass cutting, painting, general upkeep, etc. of the stick home.  Yes, we deal with all that when we return to our base camp in Florida.

There are many couples out there enjoying the life style with little worry.  Our LD's have never let us down.  We started with a used '99 RB in January of 2004 and moved to a 30 IB in February of 2007.  We have similar sleep habits but with the 30 IB and TB you can close off the rear for extended sleep or just to get away from each other for a spell.  {:>)

Go for it, you will love it.

Thanks everyone for the advice and encouragement. So far we're loving this 2004, 30' TB and are in the middle of a 30 day hiatus from the day that we purchased her. As for now, we're calling the rig "Casita".
Our purchase day wasn't a very good one, for we spent a good week and a half dodging severe storms and tornados from NM through Arkansas! We "were" going to go to OK after purchase but that didn't even come close to happening.
Anyhoo... Thanks again and I hope that our paths cross one day soon while out and about.

Hi Bud and Barbara,

Glad to learn that another LD is moving to Ohio. If you live in the Cleveland area, I can give you references to several service facilities that have treated our 2003 LD quite well. Enjoy the journey.

Bud,

I'm not a couple but I live full time in my LD.

The thing I miss the most is a recliner.  If/when I remove the right couch, to add my recliner, I will be down to 1 about double size bed (I don't count the dinette bed).  This would be fine for a single and a 2 small friendly people:-)

Thanks Steve!  We're in the Columbus area, but if we can't find anyone close by who seems knowledgeable, I'll certainly seek your list out!

Hi Bob!

We're slowly but surely adjusting to the seating arrangement in our LD and even though a recliner is not in the future (though it would be nice!), we've got a few things to tweak to meet our needs.

Thanks! Bud
