12V Toaster Oven May 03, 2015, 12:28:04 pm Yahoo Message Number: 152558I bought this the other day, pretty nifty: Schumacher 12V Portable Oven, 1212 - Walmart.comI'm sure it draws lots of power, but I'm in sunny Nevada and have plenty of solar so it's okay. Works great for baking garlic bread or heating up leftovers. Plug in to the kitchen 12V socket.bobmoore14
Re: 12V Toaster Oven Reply #1 – May 04, 2015, 04:58:48 pm Yahoo Message Number: 152577Keep in mind that *Power* will be quite limited with any 12 volt appliance, this is due to the current requirement. That old formula, "Ohm's Law", still presides. A regular toaster oven that works on 120 AC would use 10 amps to provide 1,200 watts of power - and the 12 volt receptacles are rated at 10 amps I think. A 12 volt appliance will use 10 amps of current to provide just 120 watts of power - - that piece of pizza that's warming will be a long time coming with not much more energy than is consumed by a light bulb or two. Also, see the mixed reviews on Amazon: Amazon.com: Customer Reviews: Schumacher 1212 12V Portable Ovenbumper Yonder Minden, NV
Re: 12V Toaster Oven Reply #2 – May 04, 2015, 06:05:17 pm Yahoo Message Number: 152580Bumper, You are correct. It doesn't get very hot but its enough to toast my garlic bread or heat up my leftover potatoes. I'll try it tonight on Pizza. No worries about propane or A.C. power. My 480 watts of Solar in the Nevada Desert handles it well. It doesn't heat up the Coach like the gas stove does and is much easier to clean. Nice for boon docking but it will never perform like a stove.bobmoore14
