Re: UPDATE: Generator Help, Spark plug and filter Reply #28 – August 14, 2015, 10:28:59 am Yahoo Message Number: 154665I definitely agree with "documentation" and photos of a "fix" or installation or anything else! One thinks one will remember the procedures and details, but time has a way of erasing big chunks of a process! Write it down, spell it out (including parts numbers and specifics), take pictures, and save the information.Details blur; take it from one who is only about 75% effective at remembering where the car is parked in the lot!As ever, YMMV.Joan
Re: UPDATE: Generator Help, Spark plug and filter Reply #29 – August 14, 2015, 11:17:15 am Yahoo Message Number: 154666I would be interested in hearing from anyone that has replaced the spark plugs in an Onan Emerald 4000 generator. It looks like the only way to get to the rear cylinders plug is by dropping the generator from the chassis. Not a fun job from what I see.bobmoore14 1 Likes

For me at least, it is very cramped and difficult to see what you are doing. Also, I found that adjustment of the proper generator speed was tricky. There are several variables which affect each other to get the correct voltage and frequency at no-load and varying loads. And, you need a digital meter that will read both AC voltage and frequency (Hz).Kevin Lindsay Garden Grove CA 2000 Lazy Daze 30 IB

I love this site--it's given me the courage to try lots of things; I'm not sure I will reach this level of competence/confidence, but I love reading the discussions amongst those of you who do. Re: UPDATE: Generator Help, Spark plug and filter Reply #32 – August 15, 2015, 11:09:11 am Yahoo Message Number: 154676Kevin, Thank you for the info. You may have saved me from a huge headache. I have replaced all the filters, just need to change the plugs now. It's running good so no need to mess with the idle/running speeds. I hardly ever use the generator but it's a good back up. Especially if we lose power in these 100+ degree days.bobmoore14
