New Awning April 03, 2015, 06:37:59 pm Yahoo Message Number: 152067I just picked up my 2001 LD from having the awning replaced. Total cost was $1,559.87. The original awning suffered some damage during a trip about six years ago during a trip through Central America to Panama. It finally gave up the ghost during a trip to Albuquerque a couple of weeks ago, and the rear roller support was lost and some parts bent by the wind as it partially opened up . I had to use long heavy-duty plastic zip ties to hold the cover closed on the trip home. I took the LD to Evergreen RV in New Braunfels, Texas to see if they could repair it. They determined that replacement was the only option. They said the original Flamma awning was no longer available (apparently Dometic had bought out Flamma). They replaced it with the Dometic Type 9500, Model 200(LL)(CC).003(#) which appears to be very similar if not identical to the original. The Evergreen people (www.evergreen.com) were very friendly and helpful.Barry Barnes
Re: New Awning Reply #2 – April 03, 2015, 07:38:31 pm Yahoo Message Number: 152072I replaced my awning (on a 30') about 2 yrs ago with a Fiamma, ordered directly from the source in Florida. They are imported from Italy. Best I can tell, Fiamma is still operating as Fiamma and I could find no reference to Dometic on its website. With some lifing help I was able to put in on the same attachment brackets on the LD and could use the same awning support brackets which was a plus. I still think Fiamma awnings are kind of wimpy and you probably did well for yourself by changing brands.Chris
Re: New Awning Reply #3 – April 04, 2015, 05:46:37 pm Yahoo Message Number: 152086Hmmm. Last October, the factory replaced my tired, cranky original awning on our 2008 31' TB. They are using the Fiamma F45S in Polar White. It is somewhat slimmer and the metal parts are all noticeably thinner. They charged me $1000.Linda Allen

Re: New Awning Reply #5 – April 04, 2015, 07:19:19 pm Yahoo Message Number: 152088Chris,I looked up Flamma on the web site, and you are correct, it does appear that they are still in business.I provided Evergreen RV with the Flamma F45 information, but it appears that either they did not look hard enough, or were happier dealing with Dometic.I will let the group know in the future how the Dometic works out.Barry
