Inverter vs Convertor Turning Off Inverter in Outside Storage Co

Good morning all, The words inverter and converter can be confused.  But if I may -- generally an inverter is a specialized converter that generally only applies to changing DC to AC..  Yes they can be used interchangeably but .....  in the LD world the word converter is used to suggest the changing of the voltage of incoming (either from generator or outside) 120/112AC power to run various DC applications.   The word inverter is used to change DC voltage to AC.   Most all LD come from the factory with only a converter.

A voltage converter is an electric power converter which changes the voltage of an electrical power source. It may be combined with other components to create a power supply

This is an example of why using Wiki should be cautionary. Note that the above definition is for a "voltage converter", while the RV specific device is simply a "converter". A converter in this application means one thing only, a device which is powered by the local AC line, incorporates a DC power supply, and which provides an AC and DC distribution panel. Some may also incorporate a battery charging circuit.
Some high-powered inverters actually incorporate an AC to DC battery charger, so when shore power is available to them, they will provide battery charging. This is an alternative to replacing a converter with no or poor battery charging capability.
