Ford E-450 Transmission Whine

Hello,

I have a new 2014 LD 27' MB.
I've noticed a loud whining noise, probably coming from the transmission, when in first gear.  The noise goes away as soon as it up-shifts.
It seems like this does not always happen - I think I've noticed that it tends to occur when going uphill.

Anyone notice anything similar?

Thanks,

All automatic transmissions make more noise in low gears due the amount of planetary gears spinning.
Higher gears have less happening inside the transmission and are quieter I suggest heading over to the local Ford truck dealer and taking a new 2014 E-series van (with the same transmission) out for a test drive, listening closely to the sounds of the transmission.
