I use a Verizon no-contract service for my iPad that has a daily plan for $5/300mb that does not auto-renew, and monthly plans of 1GB/$20, 2GB/$30, 4GB/$40, etc that do auto-renew. I can use the iPad hotspot on any of them.
Normally, I get a months worth, and cancel the auto-renew before the end of the month (service still continues to the end of the month). For longer trips, I might use our Verizon Jetpack instead, because it's connection to our computers is more reliable and it has an external antenna the gets weaker signals better.

"Going full time I wanted a millenicom for the Internet. Non of my family had any understanding of what it was or how it worked. I was under the understanding that we would be having extra data with this when we bought it."

Sandra, "Millenicom" is not a device.

Millenicom was a company that resold Verizon internet service, using Novatel MiFi and (more recently) Pantech routers supplied by Verizon, and carrying the Verizon "Jetpack" logo. These devices are available from many dealers. Some (like Millenicom) sell them with internet service plans, while others sell them just as plain hardware.

If you bought a Jetpack router from Millenicom, you bought 20 GB per month of internet data along with it. But if you bought one elsewhere, you may not have bought a data plan with it.

If so, you can call Verizon and have your Jetpack added to your existing plan, or purchase a new data plan just for the router. I recommend you do this immediately, because the "double data" plans being offered by Verizon expire at the end of October, and rates will likely be higher for those who sign up on November 1st or later.

For those who were Millenicom customers... I just received this message from Verizon on my Jetpack router:

"We want to discuss plan options for keeping your Verizon Wireless service. Please call 800-233-8974 to avoid service disruption on 11/8."

I haven't called yet, but others who have done so report that Verizon is offering former Millenicom customers essentially the same deal we had with Millenicom: $89.99/month for 20 gig.

One hitch: to get this price, you must sign a one-year contract. If you don't, then it's $99.99/month. And in any case, after a year on contract, the price increases to $99.99/month.

I can't resist pointing out that this is just what I predicted last week: same price as Millenicom for now, modest price increase after a year.

I'm glad Andy was right about the pricing. $89.99 a month is already bad enough. After shopping around I really couldn't find a better deal with the same network coverage.

I tried calling Verizon but gave up after 10 min.s on hold. Guess I'll try again tomorrow.

I've been on hold listening to their recording for a half hour now.

Spent a long time on hold before I got a person - something like 45 minutes on hold. But... it was worth the wait. The number provided for Millenicom customers is due to the volume of Millenicom customers calling in. Don't bother calling any other Verizon numbers to work this deal.

I am maintaining my Pantech jetpack I had with Millenicom, but I will up to 30 GB for same price ($89.99) as Millenicom and no contract via Verizon. Now, I have a cell phone thru Verizon which might have made a difference, but not sure on my offer. This combo price is less then $10 more than if I was billed separate for the same thing.

Also, no SIM card needed to be replaced. Someone, somewhere mentioned needing to change the SIM card, but its not necessary.

I was going to switch to Mifi plan if I had not heard from them, but this deal is cheaper then going with one of there plans.

Thank you. The device said millenicom on it so...! I am traveling and currently stuck in a ford dealership due to a second check engine light and water still leaking into the passenger side of the cab related to the air conditioner(3rd time we are working on this in the past month).
This time they say it is related to the fuel air mix and to not worry about it as it was not a problem. I wonder about our mileage which was about 10 mpg and sometimes 11 but now reading at 8. Hmmph.
The pervious check engine light turned out to be our fuel pump and resulted in a quiet and total stop on a very busy road 1/2 mile after we got off the interstate outside Estero fl. We were highly nervous when it came on again just before we got off the interstate at Rock Hill sc.
I'll call Verizon when I get some quiet minutes later this afternoon.

"The device said millenicom on it so...!"

If you bought it from Millenicom, it came with 20 GB a month of internet data, as I mentioned earlier.

On the other hand, if you bought a used Millenicom-branded Jetpack from some other source (such as a private party or an eBay seller), then it didn't come with a data plan--it was just a "black box," and it was up to you to contact Verizon and get it on a data plan. You can talk to them about that when you call them this afternoon.

Hope they can take care of your water leak!

After calling the number on my router to sign up with Verizon and being on hold for 1 hr. 10 minutes, I got routed to a message saying "Sorry due to system problems we are unable to process your request at this time. Please try again later." UGH!!! I guess customer service at Verizon Wireless is a dirty word. Since this group is about sharing information I will post the details of whatever plan they offer me when I get through to them.

Well it happened again today. 1 hr. 10 min.s on hold, then routed to the "system problems" recording. I think I might be going to the local Verizon store to try and work this out. I'll give it one more try tomorrow by phone.

Yesterday I had the same after one hour response (three attempts) from Verizon when trying early in the day. Mid afternoon (calling from near El Morro Nat. Mon., New Mexico) I was able to connect with a real person after a 55-min hold time. The transfer was easily done and the rep said that Verizon was totally unprepared for the response they got as Millenicom had many many customers.

I just returned to CA from a 6000 mile trip in my freshly waxed 1990 LD. It's tan with original paint and has held up especially well considering it's always been uncovered. I did at one time replace the stripe decals on the side exposed to the sun. Got a lot of positive comments along the way, especially in the mid-west, and some people, at first, think it's been repainted.  John P --

On your LD you talked about waxing it. Do you guys/gals take it somewhere or do you do it yourself?I saw an ad that camping world charges 3.49 a foot to wash & wax.. I think that's what it stated. Is that about right and is that a good place to go?

Our 04 26.5 MB is also blue and white.  On our 8,000 mile trip a couple of months ago, several people commented on the looks and condition of the LD.  Some were familiar with the brand, others were not.  All were impressed and surprised when they were told it was ten years old.  Without access to covered storage, keeping the rig looking good has required some attention a couple of times a year.  I have given the attention because I believe it is worth it.  Like others, I just feel better and more secure with a well maintained RV.  When not in use we do keep a fabric cover on it.
