Water leak in House Battery compartment
Yahoo Message Number: 148643
Hi group; I have water leaking out of the house battery compartment in my 2007 RK.
The water is not leaking from the batteries themselves as the internal level of the electrolyte is holding steady.  I have pulled the battery tray out and using a flashlight searched for any flowing water but find nothing.
There seems to be no leak from the water pump as no water is present on the inside floor or at the pump which in the RK is located beneath the 3 drawers and the closet on the drivers side.
The water tank and filler are close to the battery compartment but the battery compartment I believe is a sealed black box.
We are in Nova Scotia and will be heading back to the states next week.
Since the batteries themselves seem fine I do not desire to remove the batteries and all the attachments (solar, Trimetric meter, See Level gauges, cables, etc).
I did wash down the coach last week and perhaps I sprayed water into the compartment but it should have dried and evaporated by now.  There is a space underneath the battery tray and I have pushed a towel underneath to soak up the water.  Yet it keeps dripping...
Anyone with similar experience? Any ideas?

Thanks, Mike

Mike,
Look in the back of your fridge.  It's probably the defrost water condensate tube that's messed up somehow.

Don't know the arrangement of your floor plan, but is the city water connection near the leak? This has an integrated check valve to prevent the water pump from causing a flow here, and they have been known to fail.

Hi Mike

You stated, it keeps dripping. Is it a constant drip down the side of the coach? The battery box is indeed sealed, but you mentioned the various wires attached to the battery. Did these additions compromise the battery box and allow water to enter the box?

Rear Kitchen has the city water intake right behind the toilet.  The fresh water tank is under the driver'a side couch. Water pump is between the outside battery compartment and the three drawers under the driver's side wardrobe. All possible sources as the water lines pass near the sealed battery box. However you say the floor behind the box is dry. I know what a PITA checking that floor must have been. Your only access is by removing those three drawers.

I'm perplexed Mike, but if the box is still water tight, you'd be surprised how long standing water will remain if you did get some in there while washing.  Wish I had more to offer.
