We left last week on our summer vacation, heading to the PNW.
First night we arrive in Redding, with thermometer reading 116...perfect summer weather.
We found that the refrigerator had stopped working.  Opened the access door to find a pool of yellow fluid leaking from the bottom of the refrigerator, it's was the kiss of death.
I washed it out the best as I could but found a pool of it on the ground the next morning. Also found that the liquid etched and stained the paint. If this happens to you, keep flushing the refrigerator compartment until the liquid stops flowing, to protect the paint We did get lucky, finding a replacement just a couple miles away at Safari RV, good folks and great service.

Larry, was there *any* indication of "imminent refrigerator death" before you left? Yellow powder "dustings", excessive coil rust, less effective cooling, anything? I *know* you looked for the "leak spot(s)" when you took the old refrigerator out; were they on the coils or the boiler or....?

And, which "opening" in your FL did you and the service guy get the old one out and the new one in? Did you resort to use of the Sawzall?  ;-)

Watching my same vintage refrigerator.....

Joan, Larry told me in the past the frig has to come out a window since it won't fit the entry door. Two person job after raising shade, removing screen and opening window all the way. I have seen it done in a TK model and it looked easy with 2 people. Not sure about how hard in other models. Thankfully no Sawzall required.
