All, We were given an interesting audio CD set by a ranger at the Mammoth Welcome Center on our recent trip. There is a project based out pf Bishop which is educating kids with after school projects interviewing all sorts to create the heritage of 395. It is called Roadside Heritage. It is all free and you don't have to meet a ranger in Mammoth.

Go here: http://www.roadsideheritage.org/

and download for CD fabrication or mp3 player of your choice. We were given the science set and learned quite a few things. There are pitches for museums and such, but that is the extent of the "solicitation" you are buying into with this freeware.

Hope you enjoy as we have.

Good link; thanks. ;-)

If you are AAA members, the 'Eastern Sierra Guide Map' is another great resource; it lists and maps campgrounds and attractions and whatnot from Bridgeport through Lone Pine.
