Pre-owned LD Pricing

Keep in mind that the latest model year shown on the pricing chart referred to in previous posts is 2011; since LD's price list is now based on 2015 models, one needs to do bit of 'depreciation extrapolation' to get a more accurate 'value' figure. For example, the *base* price, i.e., no options, of a 2011 24' was $78,250.00; a 2015 24' is $85,750.00; the base price of the example model has increased $7500.00 between 2011 and 2015 models, so the potential 'used' value of a particular model year has to be calculated using a % of 2015 pricing, not that of 2011.

Obviously, pricing variables, e.g., condition, mileage, options, model desirability, location (and a host of other 'stuff'), do apply and will affect the final *selling price*, but the 'starting point' to determine an *asking price* should be based on the latest pricing information available.

As ever, YMMV!

There are a few things you should keep in mind about Barry Barnes's estimated asking price chart.

First, the chart cited by Mr. Lizardo is several years out of date. The most recent version--unfortunately only up to date as of 2013--is located in this group's Files > Buying & Selling area.

Second, the chart is based upon a limited number of data points that have been extrapolated by a spreadsheet function to cover all years and models. In other words, the fact that the chart shows the number $28,941 for a 2002 24-footer doesn't mean that a rig actually was placed on the market for that amount.

Third, it's a chart of asking prices--not selling prices. It's based on what sellers were asking, not what they got. Why? Because it's easy to find ads listing asking prices, whereas it's all but impossible to find out what the final selling prices for those rigs were.

So just to review: it's an out of date chart of estimated asking prices, based upon limited data. It's not gospel. It's a way to get a very rough idea of how a used Lazy Daze in average condition is likely to be priced by its seller. But the final selling price may vary quite a bit, depending upon condition, accessories, mileage, and of course the negotiating skills of the buyer and seller.

We're all grateful to Barry for doing the number crunching to create this chart, because even a very rough guide is better than no guide at all. If he comes up with a newer version, I'll be happy to post it.

I see that the LD asking price files have just been updated to reflect the 2015 'benchmark' prices; thank you, Barry!

Has anyone taken a price list and added Andy's year to year changes to the list.  Like when they went to fuel injection (89-90).  The change that I always forget is the width.  So I can compare price with major changes.

thanks

Thanks Joan.
I am still trying to get a decent formatting past Yahoo.    The text formatting is somewhat strange.  You have a perfectly formatted  Notepad .txt document, and it comes up garbled in the Yahoo database.

The geniuses at Yahoo have done a spectacular  job (bonus-worthy, I'm sure!) of screwing up a message board format what used to at least work reasonably well most of the time. The minor glitches and 'warts' and 'Huh?' issues that beset the previous incarnations of Yahoo's message boards have been replaced with 'new and improved' glitches, warts, and issues, i.e., an often mystifying interface, ponderous and 'steppy' navigation, and the disappearance of several useful features; their muddling and meddling and tweaking 'fixed' that which wasn't broken in the first place. Yahoo labeled the resulting lash-up 'Neo', then wandered off to do mischief somewhere else, most likely collecting more bonuses along the way.

As ever, YMMV; Yahoo's certainly does!
