Help needed. Turning on AC on fan ok, but when compressor starts, GFI flips off killing the 110 circuit.  Fan sounding like it is working, not smooth.  Happened 3 times past 2 days- condition worsening.  ?cause.  Thanks.

Thanks for the input Linda.  After discussing with a tech think it might be moisture in an outside outlet (we've had pouring rain), and with the pull from the Air Conditioner, it trips the GFI.  Today all is well. Tech suggested hair dryer to outlet to dry it out.  Rather cool today so no Air needed.  LD 2000 (not 2005)  26 IB Norma

Your compressor isn't starting--that much is certain. And it sounds as if it's drawing way too much current when it tries. In addition to what others have mentioned, the cause could be a failed or shorted compressor motor, a jammed compressor, or a failed starting capacitor (a part that's attached to the motor). You'll need professional help to pin this down and fix it, I'm afraid.
