LD Mystery Wires

Hi Folks - my husband, Don, asked me to post this question on the forum:

This concerns our 1991 (Chevy) 23' Mid-bath. While attempting to find the least intrusive path for an antenna cable, I happened to remove the interior panel on the left side of the vanity cabinet (above the house batteries). There, in the space between the interior and exterior panels, was an unterminated coil of four 12v wires (red, white, blue, and yellow). The colors lead me to think some sort of audio pre-wire, but I'm not sure - and I haven't been able to trace them to their opposite ends. Testing them, I detected no current from house or chassis power. Does anyone know the purpose of these wires?

Thanks for any input!

Roxanne

The color coding of the wire suggests two-pair telephone wire.  From your description, several assumptions are possible.  Sensor wires for older tank monitors that were abandoned for an upgrade; disconnected battery monitor.

I would not expect they were used for audio as the type of wire you are describing isn't shielded for noise.

Just some thoughts that occur to me when reading your post.

On my 1991 22' Twin King, that place holds my solar charging monitor.  I wonder if the wires are there for solar installations?
