GPS Considerations June 05, 2014, 01:32:56 pm Yahoo Message Number: 146772Group, I know the subject of GPS systems has been covered in the past but as with all electronic devices these days the parameters quickly change. I am considering updating to a 7-inch GPS for the LD (only) and keep my Garmin Nuvi 550 for the toad. In my current research I have been looking at: 1. Garmin RV 760 LMT 2. Magellan RV 9365 LMB 3. Tomtom VIA 1605 MRV 4. Good Sam/Rand McNally RVND 7725 I have read Amazon good/bad reviews on all units which are all over the board. What I am requesting is: What other GPS specific to (or not) RV travel units are out there. What are this group members using and why do you like/dislike about it. Thanks, Mike

Works the same as a dedicated GPS. Note, the Garmin app comes with a complete map data base for North America, so a cell connection is not needed for full functionality. Some of the other GPS apps require a connection to function, so check carefully before buying. In the LD, we have an old Garmin 1490 that still works fine and doesn't seem to lack any of the features found in the new Garmin app. One feature especially useful for RVers is the lane indicators that shows what lane(s) you need to be in when approaching a freeway interchange. Even better when pulling a toad.Larry

Fairly easy to learn as you will find with the experience that you already have with Garmin. Easy to read display once you get the routine of looking for the items that are important to you.
