Thank you for your post.  It gives me hope.  Our new-to-us (1985) LD has a LOT of that white goop all over the roof.  Am hoping to take off what's loose, clean it well, and put eternabond over it, when our summer really kicks in, here...about early July.  I really appreciated seeing the pics of the E.B. Applied over the top of the "goop".

LOL. Once I got in the zone and laying it down was going pretty smoothly, it was *almost* fun. The best part was being done with it. ;)
I still have boo-boos on my knees from the job, about a week later. That's even with wearing kneepads the entire time. Plus, I have some 3M sealant remaining on one leg and an arm. Somehow I missed those when washing up with acetone. And it wasn't too nice to find out it's carcinogenic and teratogenic...

You're welcome, Patti. It's quite do-able, and I hope the photos and explanations will be of help to anyone contemplating the job.

You're welcome, Bob. It took me a total of four days to do everything. There were reasons for that. Thunderstorms were happening in the afternoons, so at the first sound of thunder, I'd gather up everything and head back down to the inside of the rig. We had hail, rain, lightning, the whole bit. Also, my joints and muscles were really sore after just a few hours of getting up and down, kneeling, pressing down the Eternabond, etc. Plus, I really planned in advance just to do one run at a time, with lots of thorough cleaning in advance of that run. That gave me the chance to go back over the EternaBond multiple times with the rollers, too.

Nice pictures and good documentation.  I also took a moment to look at some of the other camping pictures on the site.  Nice camera work.

Thanks so much, John. By the way, I had mentioned you and others in my credits, as your photos and explanations were ever so helpful. Somehow that entry didn't "stick," probably because I was on a slow connection and it timed out. So now I've added them back in and you can see them here:

Has anyone put strips over the windows?  I suggested that on the RV.net and they thought I was crazy so I didn't do it.  They kept talking about it ruining its appearance.  I don't think it would look that bad.  A lot of side delam would look a lot worse.  I have a Jayco Eagle TT, not a LD, but the process is the same.  I found the key to good adhesion is Laquer thinner prep.  Some of my acetone prep pieces pulled up.

Yes got the call .... June 18th, 2014 we can rescue own new LD.   It will be finished and ready to come home.
It took almost one year from order.  Most of that time was my fault for two reasons.   My planned retirement wasn't till January of this year and I wanted a 2014 chassis.   And I'm guessing or was told that they, LD, makes them in same model batches.  The 24 TK is not the most popular.
We ordered the 24 ft Twin King with a load of options .... Including two solar panels.   Yes I know its rans counter to the sage advise of this group.   (Smile) the story of my life.
There is a trade off between size and carry weight.  We plan on spending most time deep in woods and the high desert of the Pacific Northwest.  Payload was/is important to us.   IMHO the only thing, ok not the only thing, that I would of wanted is a very large inventor 1000 watt or so.  OK OK lizbeth wanted a washer and dryer.

If you see Pro Ra Nata on the road or parked wave or drop on in.

Nothing wrong with your order. Two panels are perfect for most folks. Our recommendation not to have the Factory install solar pertains to those who want to upgrade to even larger systems, where is best to have the whole system installed in the aftermarket.

Enjoy your Daze for many years.

Options and reasons

12V battery disconnect switch Mainly for troubleshooting .... I feel this is easier than disconnecting battery terminals.  Yes sometimes I may have to do that also but it will be more rare.

CB Extra communication device.   With cell phones this is becoming more and more obsolete but where we plan to go, along with my GMRS radios ( yes I do have a call sign WQRH367) should cover any gaps or dead zones

XM radio package We do love our music

Hardwood Dash and Ultra-leather seats Nothing is too nice for my wife's backside.

Electric step Really, you think I should pull and push the step stool in and out ........

Backup Camera So I can see and ignore my spotters instructions

Heated power cab mirrors I'm soooo tried of listening to my mirrors complain about how cold it is outside.

The only thing that would concern me about the factory installed solar is ability to add more panels later. Does the charge controller installed by LD  have capacity for additional panels? Do they run separate wire runs for each panel to the controller, or do they put them in a combiner box on the roof and add only one wire run to the charge controller? Do they install the panels in a location that allows adding additional panels? Does the charge controller have an integrated battery monitor such as the Blue Sky unit? Is a temperature compensator offered with the factory supplied charge controller? Does it have the MPPT feature?
Aftermarket companies such as AM Solar (no I don't have any association with them other then being a customer) offer all of the above. I suspect the answer to many of the above questions is no. Regarding the factory install those I know that went to AM Solar for an upgrade told me they ripped out the factory install and started over.

"Has anyone put strips over the windows?"
Why would you do that when there are effective, cheaper and more attractive ways to seal a window? Sealing a window with Eternabond is something I would only do to a total wreck of an RV, one with no value.

Bob,
I believe they're installing the Blue Sky Solar Boost 2000E MPPT controller right now.  But I think the wiring is still a #10 pair whether or not you opt for the second panel.

Not sure about the temp compensator, but I doubt it.

The Solar Boost 200E is only good for 25-amp so upgrading to additional panels will require changing to a bigger controller. You re right about the Factory installing 10-gauge wiring to the one or two panels.
Anything more will, once again require upgrading.
The downside of installing aftermarket solar is that LD will refuse to do any repair under warranty that they can even remotely connect to an aftermarket installation.

Thanks Larry, Ed.
It's disappointing to hear about the warranty thing, but I appreciate the heads up.  Looks like the solar upgrade can wait a year.
On the other hand, the 3000i sounds like a nice unit.  In addition to the 290/400W payload, this one finally has a proper 3-stage charger.
