pleated blinds question
Yahoo Message Number: 146393
Hi In our 2000 LD we have the type pleated blinds that  raise or lower vertically and have horizontal pleats. We have one that is stuck.  You can't push it up nor pull it down. How do I fix it?
Strings too tight? Too loose? Broken or binding  somehow? Do I need to remove it and disassemble it? If it needs a new string  where can I get one? Is it difficult to restring? Any tips are appreciated.  TIA.

Tom, it sounds like you probably have a frayed or broken cord. To repair you will need to remove and dissemble the shade. The first time at it is a bit tedious, but quite do-able. If you ever need to do a second one, it will take only a fraction of the time the first required. Full details on how to do it, complete with step-by-step instructions and photos, along with a diagram of how the cords are arranged inside the blind can be found at www.wxtoad.com. Look under the Lazy Daze menu option for re-stringing blinds.
Good luck,
WxToad

Thanks John and Ted and Linley (hope I didn't miss  anyone). We'll get some string at CW and give it a shot. Actually Yaeko can  figure it out. I can't even route the thread on a sewing machine.

Art and I are still updating our 96KB. I learned an improtant thing about the blinds - which I had never worked with before - if the string looks like it is tearing through the fabric of the support bar causing problems - don't crazy glue it straight with a wooden support. Ever.
Thanks to the posting on blinds (restringing blinds) I contacted the Irving Door and Blind folks (Irving Door & Blind1000 Verdant Dr. Elkart, IN 46516) They were so nice - we paid the shipping and although they were not sure at first -  they did fix it so we did not end up with a mis-matched shade. Great folks - great referral, reasonable cost ($54)
