Upkeep

My wife and I continue on our research, in all honesty I have decided on the LD 27mb, she is still doing her research. Right now we are selling our 5th wheel. It's a 2012 and I need to repaint the battery compartment door since it is rusting and the paint is peeling. Dan, my good camping buddy, says even with a LD you will still run into these problems. Do owners find that LD stand up better than other brands?.
Thank you

John There are always maintenance issues with any equipment.  We have found that our coaches have worn well.  We have owned three:  an '88 24' Twin King; a '99 Midbath; & a 2010 Midbath.  We've had VERY few maintenance issues.  Quality factory work sets you up for success when you buy from Lazy Daze.

We bought a 1992 22' twin king last fall.  21 years old.  I am amazed at how well this camper has held up.

The truck part is great with 135,000 miles and a little Chevy 350.  It doesn't have a ton of power but it rides straight and smooth.  I will need to do brakes later this year as they are squeaking a bit.

The interior is as good as any five year old Lazy Daze I've seen.  I should replace the original carpets but that's it.  I installed a 22" flat screen TV "Airstream style" on the back wall, with all hidden wires and running on 12 volts so I don't need to run the generator or have an inverter.  I also put in a 12 volt blu ray player.

On the outside the original paint was dull so I spent a couple days with the rotary polisher and brought the clean shine right back.  I did notice a handful of "bubbly" spots under the paint but it is still sealed and not peeling.  The paint they use is very tough.

If you crawl under the truck, the chassis and galvanized steel underfloor looks like new.  An advantage of living its life near the Soutern California coast, I'm sure.

All the systems work great.  The lighting, wiring and appliances are like new.  The plumbing, tanking, shower and toilets systems are perfect.

I am very pleased we found this one.  Plus it already has 150 watts of solar panels as a bonus.

If you want to know how they hold up, come look at my 22 year old Lazy Daze!  :)
