Off Grid (Boondocking)
Yahoo Message Number: 146285
I may be last to the party but I thought I would share the results of changing the HPV-22B solar controller charge set point to 14.8 volts.

The standard two panel 200 watt solar system with two Trojan T125 six volt batteries is now up to the task of long term off grid living. We can watch all the sat/tv and DVDs we want in the evening and still have plenty to run the furnace (55F) all night in near freezing temps. Previously the chore was to keep the furnace blower going in freezing temps. Sat/tv for any length of time after sunset was out of the question.

We also added a battery charger with a set point of 14.4 volts. On a cloudy day one hour of generator would bring the battery charge up to 95% from 80%.

We are coming to an end of 30 days in and around Moab, Utah, are are quite pleased with the results.
