Hey Friends, Judi's post the other day of driving the toad separate from the LD, reminded me of this free app that we used last time we took 2 cars and Ciao Baby to the beach.

Voxer is a free app that works just like a walkie-talkie.  After downloading it, you just add people to the group, then hold the button to talk.  You can even replay their messages by touching the screen.

It worked really well!  I was even able to instruct my teenagers on when to change lanes!  They loved it- haha!

We used iPhones, not sure about other phones.

I also have a little iPhone holder in my car, purchased for about $10 at Walmart, that fits snuggly in my car's console cup holder, so I use speaker phone and just touch to talk, which I think is safer.

Yes, it's available for android phones, too.
 Sounds like a great app; unfortunately, DH doesn't have a smartphone. ☹

Interesting. I looked at their website, but it is not clear how it works. I assume it's something like Skype or FaceTime. How do the phones actually "talk" to each other? Is it using bandwidth from your data plan?
 Voxer is cross-platform so it is available for Android as well as IOS.

Hi Dick, I was going to say it works by "Magic!" but my Ned-tech tells me "it goes over either cellular data or wifi- pretty small amount of data."
