My tires are too old for the recall at six years.  They are also too old to go a-rambling.   Truck needs new shoes.
My local tire guy says the Michelins are backordered, with no date in sight.  Does anybody here have info about tires in Northern California?  Is his Bit O the right answer?

John I know of two LD owners waiting on Michelin to restock the LTXs.
Unless you are willing to change brands, you will probably have to wait.
I would check with Discount Tire and get on the waiting list.

Discount Tire in Vista, CA was super.  We called one evening and they said come into tomorrow a,m.  We did and they installed all 7 and we were out in I Hour!  Great service.

Hi John - you might check with America's Tire. They seem to  have a close relationship with Michelin, at least here in Antioch, CA.

Hope this helps.

We're very happy with a set of Les Schwab tires, their lifetime warranty and good customer service. They are called Toyos.

Try Costco if you're a member. They got mine in a few days. -- Jon

I tried to get mine replaced in L.A. at Americas Tire. Was told on back order, minimum wait 1 month. So I had them order and now get to wait.

We're still waiting two months after our replacement tires were supposedly ordered from Michelin.  When we call to inquire, they just say "backordered".  I'm wondering what the point of a recall is if they don't really recall and replace the item, just recall.  Are we supposed not to drive on the tires?  Are they unsafe?  Many questions as to why Michelin did it in this manner.

In January, they were out of the Michelin replacement tires and Michelin suggested and honored with an equal warranty on UniRoyal Laredo tires.  I could not wait for back ordered tires, as all my tires had sever  cracks all around the base of the tread and into the sidewall on 2 tires. So I have 2 Michelin tires on front (replaced in October in NM) and 4 UniRoyal tires on rear and spare tire is a UniRoyal as well. Michelin has refunded in full the tires I paid full price for in October, as well.

I have had zero problems with the new tires.

Hi all,

Just got 7 Michelins replaced on my 03 LD just last month. Only had to wait a week. I checked the DOT date and all of them were made in October of last year. I got them from America's Tire in Glendale Ca.

Michelin is changing what appears to be hundred of thousands of tires, produced over a extended period of time. It is unreasonable to expect that they had so many new tires in stock or would be able to manufacture then in a short time.
Most or all of the existing stock has been used and so, if you have not already receiced new tires, there will be a wait. At least you will get very new tires, when they do become available.

Wishing our LD's tire were on the list.

I put up the original post wishing for new Michelins.

America's Tire seems to have a better line on new M's than either Schwab or Big-O.  Those two would not speak of schedule; offered substitutes.

America's took my deposit for six new ones - two in the store and four that deliver on their first truck, namely Tuesday.
We're going to Point Reyes (without Truck) for the week then get tires installed first of month. I'll report my conclusion.

When I went in to America's Tires to check on the recall, they called Michelin and were told expect 8 weeks for delivery.  Ouch. However, my wait was only two weeks.
