Insurance on LD February 04, 2014, 10:00:06 pm Yahoo Message Number: 144889Checking on insurance for our new LD. Our local American Family insurance agent gave me a quote for $857 annually. He said they do not do much RV business and said that cheaper insurance may be available. I wanted to know if this was a good price? Do you have a good source for insurance? Thanks in advance. Adam

Many of us are happy with Progressive, but there are other choices as well.As to your question about pricing, it can't be answered without knowing exactly what coverage the $857 you were quoted buys you... and that's a discussion way beyond the scope of this group. You'll need to go over the coverages in detail and compare what various insurers offer. For what it's worth, Progressive's website makes it pretty easy to get a quotation. When you look at rates, be sure you're comparing apples to apples. You need to ask whether you're being quoted coverage for occasional vacationing, snowbirding (wintering the in the RV), full-timing, or...?Andy Baird http://www.andybaird.com/travels
Re: Insurance on LD Reply #2 – February 05, 2014, 11:47:27 am Yahoo Message Number: 144893I carry the insurance on my home and 3 autos with a major provider and my RV insurance via Good Sam (National General Insurance, ex-GMAC). Recently I asked my home/auto insurance agent about RV insurance. Verbally he told me to stick with the company I had, or some other company that specifically does RV's. These companies are the ones that can provide the insurance at the lowest cost and are much better at handling claims. This man has been my agent for or 30 years so I took his advice.Doug Baker
