Storing food staples in the RV

For those who are not in their rig full time, and other than the frozen winter months, what food staples do you store in your RV?  Or, should we empty all food staples, spices, etc when storing the rig?  Should we be concerned about attracting 'critters'? Is there an effective deterrent? Thanks in advance for the advice.

I do not remove any thing from the camper in the summer and  I have not problems. But this can change with the area you live. No problems with ants or other bugs.

The 'food' items that I leave in the motorhome when it's between trips are 2-3 gallons of bottled water, canned or bottled (unopened) foods, s&p/spices (in tightly closed jars), tea (Peet's teas come in bullet-proof tins), and vinegars (tightly capped and in ziplock bags.) I don't keep store any packaged stuff, even if it's unopened, or any opened containers, particularly anything that could absorb moisture, go stale, and/or attract bugs or rodents, e.g., cereals, crackers, chips, dry dog food, etc.

Before buttoning up the rig, I also suggest checking for stray potatoes, onions, garlic or anything else that might have been stashed in 'dry storage' in a cupboard, particularly if it was in a plastic bag;  'science experiment in a cabinet' discoveries can be unpleasant.

As ever, YMMV.
